Can Moms Really Have The Best Of Both Worlds? | Jenngem

Ah, moms. We hear our names for what feels like hundreds of times a day. We have tiny mini-mes running around the house all day, sometimes leaving messes in their wake. But would we really have it any other way? Doubtful. In author Beth Brykman's new book The Best Of Both Worlds: How Mothers Can Find Full Time Satisfaction In Part-time Work, she shows us just how we can have it all, family life, and a career!

It is possible to keep your career and be a mom, and strike that life-work balance. In her book, Brykman details how both stay-at-home and full-time working moms can get that balance back into their lives. It shows moms just how they can re-define their careers and their lives.

The book is based on interviews and anecdotes of over 100 part-time working women, from a variety of different jobs. It is chock full of what these women did to make the transition to part-time employment. By re-telling these stories, the author has found that many women believe they have the best of both worlds, family and bringing in an income for their family, and find satisfaction within themselves.

Juggling family life, careers, and taking care of oneself is enough to drive anyone crazy. This book helps to ease that burden and teaches us how to do all three without us moms losing our minds! Whether it is 5 or 35 hours a week, this book helps moms learn how to keep in touch with career and family.

Over 2/3 of the 100 moms interviewed felt that working part-time was "the best of both worlds" - hence the name of the book! These moms are involved in being both career woman and mom, together! They felt more satisfied with their decisions to work part-time and found that the balance between work and home like can be struck.

I don't want to divulge too much of the book, but there is some great advice in there, including ways to help you outline your objectives, exactly what you want out of working part-time, and so much more! You'll have to read the book to find out exactly how these moms do it all, and how you can too!

The book is written by Beth Brykman, a mom herself, who has held many executive positions at big name companies, she is also the author of The Wall between Women: The Conflict between Stay-at-Home and Employed Mothers and Second Wind: The Resilience of Women. She managed her own part-time business, Brykman Consulting.
